All my pieces are crafted in precious metals and are authenticated my the London Assay Office. Each piece bears a hallmark, which is an official mark confirming that the item has been independently tested and verified to meet legal standards of purity and fineness. In the UK all items ( above specific weights) described as made from gold, silver, platinum and palladium are legally required to carry a recognised hallmark, as stipulates in the Hallmarking Act 1973
The Hallmark is crucial because it is often difficult to determine the composition of an item by merely looking at it or feeling it. Hallmarking protects consumers by certifying the precious metal content of the item, ensuring that buyers can trust the piece is as described by the seller.
I am aware how important is to advance sustainability to marry practices with responsibility. I sourced recycled precious metals from suppliers that are certified by the Responsible Jewellery Council whenever is possible. While recycling materials significantly reduce environmental impact, I acknowledge the complexities involved, including the limiting support these practices offer to communities and the challenges associated with traceability.
Knowing the complexities surrounding traceability and the responsible procurement of diamonds and precious gemstones, I made a conscious decision to not use them in my designs. While, I have always prioritized this decision, I am open to exploring and knowing more about the innovation of precious gemstones alternatives.
I create my pieces in my cosy workshop in North London, where I fully immerse myself in developing my work. I am committed to keeping my designs local and do not outsource production from distant locations. I collaborate with specialised craftspeople to complete my work, professional polishers and engravers. If a specific technique is beyond my knowledge, I consult with expert makers. This approach ensures that every aspect of my work is infused with expert, locally sourced craftsmanship in the UK.
All the pieces displayed in my website are handmade, requiring dedicated time to complete. Therefore, items purchased from the online shop are delivered within four weeks from the date of purchase. This timeline allows for the crafting process and includes the time needed to hallmark each piece. For commission work the timeframe is agreed on the initial conversations with the client
In a world of fast shopping and instant gratification, choosing artisanal handmade pieces is an act of appreciation for the beauty of the slow process, it’s a conscious choice to step away from the mass-produced and towards something truly unique and personal. It is selecting to invest in artistry that values quality, individuality, and timeless design, appreciating that each piece or collections hold a story crafted with intention.
